I second the recommendation of the Campus Five version. Great tune.

Unfortunately, your opinion won't do you much good in a court of law. But I've yet to see a court case come out of this. Does anyone have information on actual prosecutions?

I just configured the following setup for just $1,387. I can't believe how cheap laptops are getting! Inspirion 700m Pentium M Processor 745 (1.80GHz/400MHz FSB) Windows XP Home 12.1-in WXGA Widescreen Display 512MB DDR SDRAM (a minimum for DJing in my opinion) 80 GB Hard Drive 8x CD/DVD burner +/-...

I get about 2.5 hours out of it. You can buy the extended battery, but I never use it where I can't plug it in for long enough to care.

I have a Dell Inspiron 700m, and so does John Dyer. 4lb, incredibly clear screen for its size, has all ports on the side or front (nice for changing things out without having to dig around behind the computer), and cheap for what it is. I highly recommend it.

John, I had the same problem with interference, even with an external sound card. I noticed that when I unplugged the laptop, the interference stopped. So I tried the 3 prong to 2 prong adapter and it works like a charm.

Brian, the iMic default volume level is low, so you may have to adjust it in the sound card settings. Once I got the default setting to stick at its highest level, I had no output problems with the iMic.

The "DJs" I know who do this regularly have a much bigger problem than lack of music selection. I'm all for trading stuff -- it really opens me to new artists that I wasn't familiar with before. But it seems that the best DJs know their collection well because they built it themselves over...

Is this something that you're doing on a weekly/monthly basis? If you have a strong scene in all of those dances, I think it might make a good 2-3 times per year venue, but I think it would be tough to keep it going more regularly. I think the main ingredient in this would be to have a seasoned DJ w...

Do you have the latest version of Winamp? It's been playing the ones I have just fine... though they are ones I created myself, not downloads from iNslaveYouToOurRulesTunes. Maybe those files it crashes on, question mark? It's a recent download, so I assume so. I haven't invested any time figuring ...

Short Skirt, Looong Pants

A few years ago someone spoofed Cake's Short Skirt, Long Jacket for lindy hoppers. I mentioned it to someone last night, but couldn't play it for them because I lost my copy. Does anyone know where I could get the song? Thanks :)

I crashes on my AAC files, though. I've just started converting everything to mp3.

FWIW, when I got my new computer, I copied my old itunes folder off of my hard drive, and just replaced the itunes folder on the new computer with the old one. It worked brilliantly. I don't know why you couldn't use this as a backup. Copy your itunes folder on to external hard drive, and in case of...

I bought an iMic last week and configured the Winamp/iTunes setup that Shana mentioned. I tried DJ'ing with it on my new WinXP laptop and had two problems: 1) When I plug in the iMic, the volume defaults to medium. To turn the volume all the way up, I have to change my default sound card to the iMi...
