I can't even get to the first step I try to rip the DVD to an external hard drive using normal factory loaded software and I get an error messaging saying that...

I tested this out by playing a 1935 Delta blues song from Lucille Bogan with some nasty lyrics late at night. I got no response from most people on the dance floor. Late in the song after saying phuck for the umpteemph time, a follower near the DJ booth looked at me and said what the hell is this? F...

Room temerature-Hot rooms can create lots of sweaty dancers who will then want the tempo's slowed. Dance floor-Nice floor, concrete or carpet hampers turning ability which in turn happers what speed the dancers want to dance to. Other DJ's- I've been to a few events where the first DJ decided they j...

I got a chance to talk to 94 year old franz about this. He played with the big band in NYC from 1938 to 1943 before travelling around the world with the USO. And Prior to that was in Chicago. He stated he never saw them the swing era artists never really did it. It was something that was common with...

There is also a DVD avaliable called "the last of the blue devils" which has a bunch of the KC old timers getting back together in 1979. You can get it and Barnes and Noble. Lots of clips and stories. They talk about or show the following musicians playing: Count Basie Jay McShann Big Joe ...

I would fore warn you that whatever people dance to in class is likely what they will stick too. So, while it's easier for dancers to learn at slower tempos, they will tend to stick to that tempo. So, I would recomend teaching at various tempos to various era's of swing music. Things with easy to he...

Proper has some of the best sound quality avaliable. The only thing I have from document is obscure blues from the 1930's and the soung quality is poor.

I'be been eyeing the Willie Nelson Jazz CD. I heard him on a show called piano Jazz with Marian Mcpartland and unexpectingly I was blown away by how good he can play Jazz. How's the rest of the CD?

I only have a two and they are both excellent. I want to pick up some more. I hear that they are all great but if you only had to pick a few of them which ones would you say are best?

Any DJ contest that interferes with dancing I think is a bad idea. Pulling names out of a hat coulb be just that. It might decrease the quality of they music because you may get an artist that the DJ has but is not familar with or has very little of that kind of music. I agree broad ranges would be ...
