OK, I just found a version of "Things Ain't What They Used To Be" by Rob McConnell & the Boss Brass that is danceable.

It's on an album called Jazz At The 19th Hole, Concord Jazz, 2000

Lots of good stuff on here, IMO.

Don't forget Rob McConnell - a trombonist who leads a Toronto big band called the Boss Brass. Now there's a name I haven't heard since college jazz band days --- do you spin them at dances? How are they? I can't imagine that I would. They're a little to stage band-ish for my taste as dance music.

Don't have too much to add, except that I have American Love Songs. My favorite track, though too fast (260) to play often around here, is "What A Little Moonlight Can Do". "Singin' in the Rain" didn't go over with newer dancers, but I intend to try it again soon with experienced...

I have a DVD of a Buddy Rich concert from 1973. In special features there is an appearance by Buddy on the game show "What's My Line?" Anyway, after it had been determined that the mystery guest was a drummer, Soupy Sales guessed Lionel Hampton. I always thought that he was way off base - ...
