Been away for eastern... so no jumpin' in until now. Yeah, Jennie Lobel's latest cd is great (though don't get her old one, even she herself is not happy with it) Silje Nergaard is a norwegian singer. And yes, she does mostly ballads and non swingin jazz. I've only found two good songs of her for li...

Artie Shaw - Hop Skip and Jump

A very different arrangement of this song. String section av varying style through different sections of the song making it hard for beginners. But I just love it.

There are old cd-players which can't handle cd-r's.
Also when cd-players have been through some rough handling they can start to have problems with cd-r's.

Mailing list integration

When this board was started there was a discussion on if it was possible to integrate it with an e-mail list. At the time it couldn't be done. Now it is possible. Full integration with communication both ways (forum->e-mail, e-mail->forum) can be donw with the new version of M2F. If there still is i...

Spoon's Blues

I bought this album years before I got into swing. Awesome jazzy blues album. A few great songs for lindy (Lotus Blossom, Playful baby etc.) and the rest of the album is superb slow blues.

Edit, corrected album title name

Pardon my ignorance. I just wasn't sure if New Testatment Basie stuff with Frank Foster and Neil Hefti arrangements was considered "original era music". (And if it's not, then nonetheless it's good to know you also enjoy music beyond that specific genre.) So are you in a position to get H...

Gunhild Carling - Trombone (or trumpet, harmonica etc)
Max Carling - Violin (or clarinet)

If you ever get to Sweden or manage to catch them around in Europe, you just got to see and hear these siblings.

Re: Sooo... does anyone understand the legal issues?

2. What licenses should we have as DJs? 3. What about using copies of material we have previously bought and keep the original in a safe place, while using the copy to DJ from? 4. Assuming you have your license to play publicly, can you use music from Itunes or Emusic which you purchased? I heard a...

I'm sure this would be pretty darn expensive for the average venue, but it would be cool if there was a reader board that displayed the artist/title/album as you dj'ed (ideally from CDDB info, which could be overwritten by the DJ if it was wrong). I've actually done this once, though with a compute...
