I just got a response back from Echo stating they're working on an Express card version of the Indigo DJ they hope to release in September/October. They said for those who can't wait you could use Echo AudioFire 2 as a universal replacement for the Indigo DJ. It basically works the same way except t...

Tom, I think you might be talking about my playing from Janet's CD's at the Swing Virginia dances in Hampton Roads, Va. I love her quirky lyrics; she generally get a lot of smiles. Of the quicker tempo's I've played "You Keep Me Always Living In Sin (198 bpm) and "How Could Red Riding Hood...

Here's a set from this year's Memorial Day "80's" Themed Pool Party Sorry I don't have access to the BPM right now, but looking through this era made me realize why I was so comfortable at 144 bpm. Apparently, that was the official tempo of the decade. Prepare yourself for some Breakfast C...

Nobody's mentioned it, but the Dutch Swing College Band did a pretty good version in 1951.

Thanks George! This is a wonderful CD and offers a good range of tempos for dancers. I particularly love your version of Sent For You Yesterday (it had our dance floor packed last week). It looks like we'll have a nice group of folks driving up to see you at Glen Echo next month. Looking forward to ...

I'm still deep in my Swedish groove with Gunhild Carling and Jennie Lobel. You know its bad when you can quote the USD/Swedish krona exchange rate from memory because you've ordered that many CD's from abroad. The last couple week's I've been really into Oscar Brown, Jr.'s "Sin & Soul... an...

Armstrong's Hot 5 & 7's - Columbia/Sony or JSP remaster?

I'm looking to pick up Louis Armstrong's Hot 5 & 7's recordings and have been reading that the JSP recordings might be the better remastered version. Does anyone have any opinions or preferences?

Thanks.

Swing DJ’ing as a Design Art

I compiled a lot of what I've heard other people say or write into something that makes sense to me as a design professional... its still just a rambling draft as I'm still a newbie at all this... but for any academic types, here's my thoughts, for what they're worth... Swing DJ’ing as a Design Art ...

Lipi, It was our local weekly dance. Small room for about 30 dancers. Everything I'd been playing had been very traditional standards and some newer artists like Janet Klein and the Parlor Boys who play in very traditional styles... so I thought it might be interesting to push the envelope with a cu...
