It seems like some of the material eventually will be available to the public. If so, I hereby call a spot at the front of the line. I wonder if this article would set you drooling as much as it does myself.... Might be a good time to start saving up some pennies. Mosaic Records in Discussions to R...

The top end is Mosaic - the audio quality is the best it can be, and the collections are complete including alternate takes. This probably isn't what you're looking for, they're very expensive. The other good compilation labels include JSP, Proper and Quadromania. The Proper boxes are generally quit...

Jriver media center can be installed and run off an external hard drive (there's a special installation mode that let's you do this), however it's a Windows-only product. I'm not aware of any product for mac where this is a feature.

The Swinger hacks any song to... swing

I'd imagine others have found this by now. Certainly it's only swing with a little "s" and it doesn't work all the time - definitely interesting for those who are interested in "novelty" swing.

The equivalent Australian organisation is APRA (who deal with licensing fees for the copyright in the lyrics and the score - there is another organisation, the PPCA, that performs an equivalent function for the copyright in the recordings). These are the sorts of issues that would be resolved by mus...

As for my original comment, did I mention a side benefit to playing Bublé here is that the dj gets group hugs from the girls after playing his music? That only happens when I bake cookies and bring them to the dance. Being able play music that both the you and the crowd likes, won't always happen f...

Surreal wrote:I'm not really a fan of Michael Buble, but there's a contingent of college-age girls in our scene who are in love with him. I can play any song of his with a moderately danceable tempo (and even some that aren't) and it's guaranteed to fill the floor.
Maybe they're just being patriotic.

There is a big difference in the quality and fit & finish of a consumer grade laptop and business grade laptops. I recommend the business grade laptops - the cases are stronger, the hinges are stronger, and the overall fit & finish is higher. For new laptops, business grade versions come wi...

As for the tempo-bending to make it danceable:

If it's so fast or slow as to make it extremely difficult for most folk to dance to you're not going to be able to make enough of a difference without distorting the sound such that it would be horrible to listen to.
