i was just curious about some of y'all...it's hard to tell how much passion there is for the dance sometimes. but the passion for good music is clear!

Tough Choice? DJ or Dance Poll

Curious about preference for DJ'ing or dancing...which would you choose if you could only choose one (not for a night...forever)

lindy blues

I suggest clarifying what YOU mean by "Lindy Blues Exchange" so that people will know what to expect in advance: the term "lindy exchange" is equally or more open ended, and just as open to differing interpretation and disappointment. I know that my interpretation (as a complete...

blues, r&b, etc

Playing allot of R&B is dangerous. early R&B is fine 1946-1955. but modern R&B is assocaited with Westies. and hence playing allot of it will upset your more experienced Lindy Hoppers. I have noticed many of the newer generation of Lindy Hoppers seem to like it and allot of it, but many...

blues dancing music

great feedback, but i would disagree with the assertion that KC and cleveland already have a lot of blues in their scene...both cities tend to be very uptempo hollywood/bal influenced. this doesn't help me decipher their alleged opinions, though. chicago, though, i understand, and i appreciate the f...

blues - beyond the definitions?

with our lindy blues exchange coming up soon, i have been thinking about the feedback and suggestions we have gotten about what to play. these suggestions come from out of towner dj's (on this board and otherwise)...and i am trying to assimilate all of it and make sense of the knowledge, wisdom, sig...

indigo echo

it looks like the indigo "dj" card wont be out until late sept anyway, so i guess i'll have to make do until then and borrow an extigy for now.

on another slightly different note

i was suprised last year on the run up to stlbx that a couple of people made it clear that they would attend if certain dj's would be there (jesse miner in particular), and would not attend if they were not. nothing against the really well know and popular (for good reason) dj's, but it seemed like ...

exchange dj'ing

one of the key and often overlooked aspects of all of this discussion is attitude (good or bad). i have been to exchanges where i thought some of the dj'ing was subpar, but never felt the need to post my opinions publicly. If the entire event was dj'ed poorly, i think it is appropriate to give your ...

extigy vs indigo echo???

i had been leaning towards the extigy (esp with the $50 rebate offer), but i really like the idea of the indigo echo pc card since it is much smaller and doesnt need an external power source. i want the ability to cue a song and to get better sound quality, and it looks like either one will do those...

shim sham song

some of our locals figured out (don't ask me how) a while back that Xanadu worked "perfectly" for the shim sham.
