Mills Blue Rhythm Band

The Lucky Millinder 'Apollo Jumps' set I picked up is probably the best purchase I've made in my short time of swing-music-collecting, and so I was hoping to pick up some Mills Blue Rhythm Band. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've been trying to find the 1936-1937 Classics disc, but it's a 9 ...

He was only a few blocks from his home when he collapsed and died. “He indicated to the staff he was leaving and that he would be ...

Someone made a compilation for me that had "Night Train" by Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. It was actually "Happy Go Lucky Local", but I can understand the mistake.

So correct me if i'm wrong, but he wanted to play a different version of the same song? But he was pissed off because he felt he could no longer play it? Sometime the same song played in a different manner can work, or even make a neat segue. Even so, like LindyChef said - i'd look upon it as a chal...

? - Jimmy Rushing & Count Basie Orchestra
? - Duke Ellington & Count Basie Orchestra

But that doesn't really help. :(

Just stumbled across a CD of rare recordings called: "Go Harlem: New York Columbia Recordings, Vol. 1 " http://www.amazon.com/.../002-3495758-3611244?v=glance&s=music Interestingly, the second track is titled "Lindbergh Hop" by Te Roy Williams (1927), which to me reinforces t...

You can get 86 full Jubilee radio broadcasts (almost 40 hours) from http://www.otrcat.com/jubilee.htm . Unfortunatly they come as poor 56kbps MP3 files on 2 MP3 discs - So although you may not be able to DJ with them, it's great stuff. For only $10 they make an excellent sampler. Now if only they we...

Since AAC is a compressed format, you would do much better to extract a WAV from the original (uncompressed) source CD. As you know, with compression you loose information, and whilst it may not be detectable by ear, the more you play around with the AAC (or MP3), and resave it, the worse it will ge...

The newer set is also much nicer-looking than the brown-covered original. :)
