My worse experience (so far) has been showing up to DJ the usual Tuesday venue and having one of the two cd players make everything sounds like the chipmunks. Eventually one of the dancers (who djs non-swing stuff so was totally sympathetic) drove home and brought me a portable cd player to plug in....

Re: Overplayed songs

I heard it last night at the LindyGroove. It was played right after "Jumpin' At The Woodside" which has sadly become the overplayed token fast song. I'm just amused to finally sit down and catch up on this thread. I had djs commenting all weekend about how I got flamed for playing "W...

I've got a CD worth at home of stuff that's all pretty danceable. The one I play the most often though is "Tux 66" by VoxP

nero has worked quite nicely for me for burning both audio and data cds. I've had very few coasters and no crashes. I don't know what version it is though since it's the one that came with my drive (and I'm not at home now to check it).

David Margolick's Strange Fruit was worth reading. It's a biography of the song but obviously is mostly about Billie Holiday.

Isn't that a little slow even for west coast? I think the westies around here at least would tend to do nightclub two-step to that instead of WCS.

I'm still more of an email person because with the current setup I can go in and read everything once but go back and search for it on the website if I want to. The thing I dislike about a lot of forums is that I have to go back and try to figure out how far along in a thread I've already read and e...
