According to ASCAP it is the venue that is responsible for the license, not the DJ. SOCAN is exactly the same. SOCAN has a FAQ that says if you are unsure if the venue has an applicable license (there are many types of licenses), you (as the organizer) should pay for a license just in case. The FAQ...

I played "Roses" this week and it went over well.

I had that type of night last night. I try and slow down and look at my book CD by CD and see what I could play, though mostly I just suck it up and do my best.

Yeah a butt whoopin' is definately the way I would have gone.

I haven't really compared it to the old version yet but I did like the CD. I spun "Well Git It" last night and it was pretty well recieved.
