Unfortunately OGG is not supported by the iPod, which is why I won't be using it any time soon. AAC, on the other hand, is. As I said earlier, there is no DRM issue at all with using AAC unless you are buying from ITMS anyway...

This is an aside on the Griffin iMic but it may be of interest here too. I've been using the iMic very successfully for doing what BTB mentions above for some months now -- that is, using its output capability to provide a second audio port for previewing. Works great. In the last few days I've been...

Yeah, I use a similar setup (iTunes + DJ-1800) which I recommend.

I do still use iTunes to DJ with occasionally, but I much prefer using DJ-1800 because of its support for previewing using an external audio device like the iMic.

I'm at 41 gigs of music on my external drive right now (that's around 12,000 songs), so an ipod won't even hold my entire collection. Two comments: 1. You may not necessarily need all your tunes on the iPod all the time. YMMV. 2. There's a 60Gig configuration available, although it's a bit pricier....

I find iTunes by far the best CD ripping & music management software I've tried on the Mac. I can't say I've experienced Reuben's problems with memory running iTunes on OSX (even on fairly meagre systems). (Psst, Reuben, there's no such word as "irregardless"). I have definitely heard ...

Unbelievable list! Funny.

Psst... Greg, the note number for "Ruth Haag" is 4 but I think it's meant to be 6. And I think the artist and album names are missing for that entry.

I've ordered it immediately -- I trust the judgement of the people involved in the project to add it to my catalogue. I guess I have a different perspective to some people here. First off, I'll reserve my own judgement of the album until I've heard it myself and not base it on reading the BPM info (...

Yakov, I was talking about ripping as well as compressing. The answer is iTunes. It does a very very good job.

It seems pointless to me not to use the superior AAC format for encoding your own collection simply for ideological reasons -- in what possible way will you be compromised in the future by using AAC for this purpose now? I've been using AAC (128k) to encode my stuff for a while now, and I'm glad I d...

Hey Lucy, nice set!

Danny’s All-Star Joint -- one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite albums ever. I wanted to marry Rickie Lee Jones for a while there in my 20s. I never really thought about using it for Lindy Hoppers until you mentioned it, though. I think I'll give it a try!
