Be careful playing new stuff. Sometimes there's a reason why you never hear them. Integrate them in with some more well-known songs and see how they go over.

I only keep this info for songs I rip and put on compilations. And except for the penciled marks, all info is in the title of the .WAV file. It works for me. Song, Artist, BPM, length if it's over 5:00, edited (if edited), and penciled circles for the best tracks. Sometimes I wish I had kept track o...

Jerry, thanks for posting the clips, they inspired a lot of great discussion. I skimmed your last post, though, my eyes glaze over when I see long posts. I like some 50's big band songs, but good ones are hard to find, so I'm really interested in your recommendations. My opinions: Track 1: Its OK, I...

Don't pay attention much to CD reviews. Like movie reviews, I may read them to see what others think, but it doesn't sway my decision either way to purchase a CD or color my opinion of a certain CD and/or artist. Tina 8) Well, I use movie reviews pretty extensively to decide what to see. It's a lot...

Well, I write a lot of CD reviews and I like to think they aren't worthless. Of course they shouldn't be taken as Gospel, either. I expect a lot of people use reviews as a starting point to identify CDs with potentially danceable songs on them, and then use sound clips or other means to decide wheth...

She does dance! sorta. Mostly one of us holds her on our hip as we dance. Anyway, every swing song on my hard drive has the BPM, so it comes for free when I make a compilation.

"Ain't Got No Home" would have been a good one!

Swing for Toddlers

Here are the swing songs I put on a CD for my girlfriend's 2 1/2 year old. She can already identify Ella. I already knew she liked Oooh shoo-bee-doo-bee and Wade in the Water so I put those on. As I mentioned in another thread, she can sing a lot of the lyrics to Oooh-shoo-bee-doo-bee, and loves the...

I've edited about 20-25 modern jazz songs to remove some of the middle parts (particularly drum/bass solos) to get the length down. It's really hard to do it so that it sounds seamless, but I think I've been pretty successful at it. I don't just cut and splice at beat 1, some solos start or end befo...

Yes, all three of those versions are good. I think I like the Joe Carroll version best. My girlfriend's 2 1/2 y.o. daughter really likes that song, probably because it has that nonsense phrase repeated a lot. And she likes to sing the part where there's a break and Carroll sings "shoo-be-do-bee...

If I read it right, the one on ebay says it is an advance copy of an upcoming Sony re-release.
