as long as it's not more than a few times in a night, most everyone else will enjoy the rest/show..

(ditto for blues stuff, even if it's not necessarily as much of a "show")

I still don't think that a savoy tribute needs to stick with house bands.. I mean, heavy on house bands, but when Tamura and I were doing it, I asked Sugar Sullivan if she had anything she wanted to hear, and she wanted some Basie.. which seemed to echo Frankie's taste. It'd be great to have more in...

Do you mean like, song to song flow, or like, big arcs where you're bringing the energy up and down?

Who's done any radio work?

Actually, I think there's at least a few of us that have done college or community radio - at least me, Jesse Miner and SLO Jesse.. anybody else?

I did that for a little while, I figured it was good pennance for playing their music for lindy hoppers..

I think older wcs dancers really like a lot of it, but the newer dancers require a drum machine thud to get their unisexual diva thing on.

Sounds like a good question for Rayned - this might stump him.... It *is* titled "Mood Indigo"; I don't think it was meant to be played fast.... I have 5 versions; of the non-vocal the fastest is 106 on Stomp It Off - Jimmie Lunceford (which I don't really like). Of the non-vocal versions...

Though I almost never DJ off of it just because it ain't my thing, one CD that would be more modern and danceable is Blues in Orbit by Duke Ellington. Those who are into the more modern stuff for DJing and Dancing would probably really enjoy this cd. I love it, but the one place it fails, is that w...

I don't think Jimmy & Jeannie are related to Doc.. they actually live in San Diego, and most of their musicians live in LA - but I don't think I've really heard of them playing anywhere.. Hey Mike - what's yer favorite Black and Tan Fantasy? I think I've spun both the 'new' one from '38 and the ...

I wonder if "Trouble in the Lowlands" is the same as Backwater Blues?

I've also seen it just labelled "Blues" on a Basie in Europe Disc, killer tune.

Got any Jimmy & Jeannie Cheatham stuff? they do some killer slow blues.
