After about 2 months on backorder I finally got Harlen Leonard and His Rockets. While I am still digesting it, I've already found some great cuts of the 23 tracks.

IMHO Jams should be spontanious. If they happen great if they don't great. What I've noticed is when people try to create jams they feel artificial and forced. Often times they end up falling flat on their face with everyone standing around and nobody dancing.

Has anyone used these before? I've been told that they have better scratch resistance and over all better quality than the typical silver ones.

Who ever wrote that is seriously off base. One of the big ditinctions of the swing era/big band era fo jazz and it's predesessor is the constant use of swinging 8th note patterns by musicians. It's like a tied triplet but not as long on the first note. There is actually no musical notation for this ...
