I recently moved my library over to jriver after using itunes for about two years (I'm on a pc). I found that a lot of the tags from the music I added way in the beginning did not transfer (missing BPM, comments, etc.), but songs added later on kept everything properly in the tags. My guess is that ...

A lot of this goes totally over my head, but there's some good reading about soundcards in there: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=41241.0

Re: When I get a laptop
In iTunes, I have used the "grouping" field to mark the songs that I would consider for djing, so this goes into the actual MP3 tag. It does? I lost all my grouping info when I switched to jriver... or maybe it's because "grouping" isn't a standard field that other media players...

I've recently switched over to jriver media centre and have noticed that the ripper is very slow (generally around 5x speed). itunes generally goes around 16x for me, even at high quality. Does anyone have quality comparisons for jriver? How about speed? Lawrence made some comparisons with itunes an...

Battery powered? I don't recall seeing too many "big" systems outside of boomboxes that run on battery power... the only one that comes to mind is this one: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=600315

I'm starting to add tags to all my music. After a recent computer crash and a decision to move away from itunes (I use j.river now), my music library is kind of a blank slate. I used to have a bunch of old playlists and category lists that I would use to help pick songs while dj'ing. Working without...

There is a lot of industry attention on low cost, low power, small form factor computers. I'd wait and see what's around it the fall when there's a little more competition. I've been reading a bit of techbuzz over new types of hard drives and batteries that are supposed to be much smaller as well. ...
