Back when I had a horrible collection (as opposed to the relatively acceptable one I have now), I spun once while really loaded. While not a total nightmare, it was bad enough that I won't have more than a few drinks before a shift.

In my experience, more dancers will come out for a vocal number, but their actual comprehension of the vocal is minimal. It's unimportant when compared to good song v. bad song.

I would eschew emotion in favor of energy, even in Blues sets.

I had the privilege of visiting the American Jazz and Negro League museums in KC this past weekend. Some of their exhibits feature on-demand audio files and, of course, I lost the list I had made. One of the files (I'm pretty sure) was of the Carolina Cotton Pickers but I cannot find a single CD any...

For the love of god, I know I'm sometimes the only DJ at an event who uses CDs, but please let me make double-sure it's the right version I'm thinking it is out of 42 different ones. I don't always remember to squeeze mine on the plane, but then I'm not...

I just got it ($3) and I was underwhelmed. "Back Bay Shuffle" was the best piece and I probably won't spin it.

It seemed too earnest, too polished.
