*bump* So, I'm in the market for something for the living room of my new house. Does anyone have any recommendations for speakers or amps (ie brands/models)? Speakers makers have their fanboys, and are always going to come down to personal preference. Personally I've always had a soft spot for JBLs...

Hi Sam, could you please start a new thread discussing copyright issues and keep this thread on topic. The topic being what kind of recording technique do we as DJs and dancers prefer for a CD with Bennie Goodman (second half of the thirties) songs. Thanks. Now that it has it's own thread, I'd love...

As a dj, I play music for people to dance to. There are some songs/artists that I don't care for, but they're good for dancing/requests/whatever, so I play them anyways. Is there something wrong with this? Of course not... but that's what wedding DJs are for. As a Swing DJ, I play music for people ...

except the bass drum, which goes RUMBLE-RUMBLE-RUMBLE-RUMBLE throughout. I think the recording technique used inherently adds a little boom-e-ness to the bass end, but are you sure you just didn't have your sub turned up to high? I re-listened to a few tracks completely flat on studio monitors and ...

I haven't done it in years... when I did, I just ran a cable from my headphone jack to my mic input and used a simple recording program to create wav files... then cut them up and compressed to mp3s. Pretty ghetto style, but it worked. There are programs out there will allow you to rip audio directl...
