Intersting thread. I've been Djing here in South Florida for 6 years now almost weekly. Sometimes it does not matter what kind of music you play and nobody dances. I guess there are occasions people only come out to socialize. I've been DJing with another DJ for all this time. We usually do 45 to 60...

Yes, I found this collection while shopping at the CD Warehouse store. I started a thread on it a couple of months back. You can find the thread here:

I have this CD. I would not even mind giving away if you buy me a drink. Neo Swing at its best. But what do I know, Yuval Hod swears by it.

The only reason I will not have a little buzz is if I DJ at a dry event. I hate those. It is very lonely at the DJ booth without I drink you know! All in all I think I DJ better with a buzz.

Whoa, that's me Djing at Frim Fram! The girl requested me to play Sing, Sing, Sing, I said no way. But she convinced me. It cleared the floor but it was worth it.

A Flash light is now part of my DJing standard "tool" kit. I think it's a must for checking and connecting cables to ports in dark rooms, under tables or dark corners. But I do like a light to be provided for reading your CD or LP track listings and liner notes. Some venues are bright eno...

I started playing Honky Tonk by James Brown because I first heard him playing. It became a very good song here in South Florida. People love it.

I just got the Proper Box Set. Nice stuff, but very slow. If you want something with a little faster tempos and very danceable this is a good start:
The Best of Dinah Washington [Roulette] . About $8.00 on Amazon.

Back in the 30's and 40's there was no stinking DJs. Only live music all the time. Yeah... in the movies. Fact of the matter is there was NOT live music all the time and there were "DJs" though not exactly as we think of them today. Live music all the time... HAHA... you're funny. Well if...

There is only one reason I DJ:

Lack of live bands at all events.

Back in the 30's and 40's there was no stinking DJs. Only live music all the time.

So given the choice, I would not DJ and only listen to live music.

Quadromania Collection

I just discovered a new (to me anyway) Jazz series called Quadromania while shopping at CD Warehouse. They came packed in a 4 CD box format. I picked up 3 for $12.99 each. I got Anita O'Day, Les Brown and Harry James. Now, $12.99 for a 4 set CD ain't bad. But the quality is also really good. This co...

Honeysuckle Rose: The Band

A friend of mine gave me a compilation CD with two tracks by a band called Honeysuckle Rose. There is a female singer and a rhythm session. Do you guys know about this band?
