Re: Song ID - been bugging me for a while

A place to look is the Self Portrait box set. It was copied and mistagged by somebody I know. Your answer may lie there, or not.

Can anyone tell me what fields in the id3 tags are considered "standard"? I know that's a tricky question, since these things seem to be changing all the time. I've been trying to a list online without much luck; my google-fu must be weak. It gets complicated. Read more, http://www.id3.or...

Yes, it takes time to set up. But, if you back up your files regularly, the results last forever.

Lawrence did a good job of answering the questions. Big collection, lots of time has been put into it. I have not finished all the tagging. Probably will never be done. The evolution went like this. I used to DJ from a bunch of compilation CDs and I had a plan to organize them into various series (b...

To find the next song, I run a smart view in WinAmp to find songs that fit what I am looking for in the next song (SmartViews are called Smart Playlists in iTunes, most of the MP3 players have a similar database function in them). Similar to what others have said, usually the tempo is not drasticall...

Thumbs up. The process of actually getting the tracks is little tedious (or maybe I need to play with it more, the process for downloading is a little bit like buying a book or CD on Amazon). Also, it is a chore to search for items unless you have an idea of what you are looking for to begin with. H...

As far as I can tell, you just have to dig through the albums or the lists as you described them. I don't know of any tricks. They UI had evolved over time, but it is still somewhat album oriented.

I don't know if this what you meant, but this is what your post made me think of. There is a thought among a lot of people that DJs and teachers are less appreciated in their home town, relative to the cities that they visit. Hence, a guest DJ or teacher gets a lot of fanfare, while the local DJs do...

A few of the "Swingin' To" CDs are on eMusic, not sure how long they have been there. Discussed in the worst song ever thread http://www.swingdjs.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=708&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=michael+jackson&start=0 A few DJs in the thread said "Tru...

Telarc titles have started to show in recent weeks. Nothing too noteworthy (correct me if I missed something). Mostly, classical titles, but there are a few good jazz titles on Telarc that would be worth downloading if they were added. Among the new albums, there is a novelty song of note if you wan...

In the past few weeks, some albums from a label called "Drive Archive" have been added. I am not that familiar with the label, looks like a lot of classic swing recordings, probably recordings that appear elsewhere. In general, there is a lot of classic swing turning up, from obscure label...
