So are R&B and Jump Blues the same? if not, how are they related? R&B is a child of jump blues. I wouldn't say jump blues or R&B started on the West Coast; that's kind of a large statement. "R&B started here in LA, "T-bone Walker was here,Roy Milton was here,Charles Brown ...

Roy Milton was the #1 jump blues band on the West Coast, so I bought the one album listed on Amazon - I thought it was cool that it was a West Coast band. being that R&B started here in Los Angeles and was the center for that type of music I don't beleive the fact they were a LA based band woul...

I have that album as well. The Hucklebuck isn't one of the songs on there I dig, but there are a few songs I like on it. This thread sucks... It's like I should feel guilty for liking the occasional song/album/artist that is mentioned here. Ya should, ya bastard! This is about swing music not...

Roy Milton and his solid senders specialty records.( I got it because his piano player rules) But to no avail the band just sucks....unless you like that square ass "do the hucklebuck" .... Lucky Millender "Ram-Bunk-Shush" (CD-CHARLY 288) It's his later stuff which was R&B ju...

Sure, of course. It's possible to fry your laptop plugging in to a lot of things. I saw one go up in smoke when plugged into a video projector. It all depends what's going down those wires. In this case, it was a particular plug that carries power normally. Hard to believe that it would be wired in...

I don't DJ, but my theme song is definitely Eddie Reed's version of Jazznocracy. Why? Because it's the first song I ever danced to where I felt like I was really, and I mean, REALLY, doing Lindy Hop. Like, so in the moment that even trainwrecking was being a golden god. (Also, Eddie Reed was playin...

Re: Cab Calloway

I wish he would of recorded more non-vocals, as his band was top notch and swing against anyone.... That's because he was one of the hardest asses in the business, and he got what he demanded  Top notch. -FF Well look at who was in his band! nothing but the best... it's a shame he had to s...

Likewise, today, some of the very best Lindy Hop bands I've seen live so far have not even made it onto CD. (e.g., the Southwest Texas Big Band at last year's Austin Exchange.) Your totally right...whats a Lindy Hop Band today? a band in which you can Lindy Hop too? or a band that plays in a style ...

[ Lunceford was more dancers favorites then any other band (of both white and black dancers, including Lindy Hoppers as well as Swing dancers)....closely followed by Goodman, and third Basie...then Barnet...Webb...Shaw...(quite alot of dancers considered Barnett the dance band version of Ellington)...
