Is that dancers that take up more space like lindy hoppers or the more compact kind like bal dancers?
I've been looking at the Fender Passport Deluxe-250W for the better part of a year, but fortunately I've had no need for one.... yet.

yes exactly those kinds.
I heard they have pretty good sound, are easy to carry around (just the set and the tripods, and require minimal other equipment to use.

Portable PA systems

Some good models? I don't really want to use 5 different mixing systems and lug around the fabled soundbox of doom- with all the problems with power lines crossing and buzzing and what not. EDIT: Intended purpose: portable sound set for crowds of 50-100 people that I can haul around the East Coast. ...

I guess I should also remark that I notice that most of these uberparty lindy songs are clean and concise... the band is precise and the beats hit dead on. The balance and pitch are also laser accurate as well in most of these.

Father Steps In- http://tinyurl.com/yz2cvk The Hines band of 1939 - 1940 is unsurpassed. He had several great bands, but this one is "it". He broke it up at the end of 1940 to get out of a personal appearance contract, but when he re-formed a few months later, several key men were not on ...

All of those are nice songs, but none of these have quite the driving rhythm that I'm looking for.
Most of the ones you listed have a shuffle and/or a slight back beat that makes it a little more laid back.

Trying not to get too academic, these are mostly tunes that are all pretty intense with nothing flouncy or commercial about them, no vocals, Swing at it's least forgiving. "Beware the dog" type Swing. "No pansies allowed" type Swing. "Not for squares" type Swing. Thank...

Uberparty Lindy

I'm looking for songs that I would call Uberparty Lindy- hard, driving hot jazz rhythm on top of the beat. Basically, stereotypical jungle music. Mostly found in Artie Shaw, Bill Elliott, Jonathan Stout, gypsy jazz, etc. Some specific examples of songs, just off the top of my head, and in alphabetic...

>I don't think I have ever been any where where all the tunes were slow and there was any sense of energy going on. Actually, I have never been to a "Swing" dance venue where all the tunes were slow ones. There's the occasional blues venues where that holds true- slow music with energy. D...

"No me digas nada" is a salsa song. Yay for swing night! I've talked to dancers and those are the conclusions I came with. I cooouullld give them what they want, but you might as well make one playlist and set it to play every wednesday night. (as opposed to a ballroom from my hometown). I...

Weaning crowd off of favorites

I noticed when I DJ in a certain scene, I will get different people out dancing on the floor, but it seems the feedback from the regulars seems always to be negative. Some main things I shoot for: -trying not to play songs that are heard week after week. -getting everyone their turn on the floor -ke...

One of my very very favorite singers in the 40s. Her voice with the bright and rich tones that really sends me, especially in Hi-Fi recordings.
