hey Holly! Glad to hear you're DJing! I wish I could hear your sets. I felt very much the way you do when I lived down there, though I think when I was there the fusion hadn't gotten as big yet. There ARE people that want to hear majority-swing music down there, but there numbers are hard to count w...

Yeah, that's a good point Haydn. I had forgotten about the refresh that DiscoXT does of the itunes library. I forget if it's a very quick turnaround time on that though. Also agree about the extra step needed when draggin from the DiscoXT previewer to the song queue. But I like the automation of the...

Well, if you don't mind a two-software solution, then any of the itunes integrated DJ software would work for you (provided it met your other criteria as well). You could have itunes sent to your headphones and the DJ software going to the speakers. Yes, as long as it's straightforward. Some combin...

Yeah, you could do what Brent is suggesting, but I considering this is a "does this software exist" thread that you're not looking for a work around that uses two pieces of software at once. I know I was happy to find Disco XT because it meant I wasn't going between software anymore, but t...

Haydn, I'm afraid I too may be misunderstanding what you're looking for, but let me ask it this way... As an example, Disco XT uses it's iTunes integration to allow you to see your playlists and songs. You can click into a playlist and start listening to the tracks and then drag ones that you like o...

Re: Your local Lindy Hop scene - Uses real Swing music or ot

Does the local Lindy Hop scene in your area use real Swing music from the 30s and 40s and maybe some Jazz from the 20s? What's astonishing is that you think "real swing" is limited to the 30s and 40s. I didn't say or write that......especially not with a lower case "s". Fair eno...

I think only REAL Americans listen to REAL Swing music. (joking) haha, I would agree with Jesse, the topic questions asked here and in the NT Basie thread are vague and hard to respond to. I think Straycat's response about how to measure how much of which type of swinging jazz demonstrates...

What's the point of this topic anyway, Eyeball? Of course people dance to "real Swing and jazz music". Sure there will be different styles and influences from scene to scene, but that's to be expected. Are you waiting for someone to defend their scene for not dancing to "real Swing an...

touche.

I'd guess the majority on this forum would find NT Basie to be swing music, but I'm sure a thread will start if people disagree.

Re: Your local Lindy Hop scene - Uses real Swing music or ot

In my view NT Basie now falls into the non-Swing category, mostly for its abuse by non-Swing music scenes or venues (and those leaning such) than for its post-Swing Era qualities. (no slam on Basie.) But that's another topic. :) yeah, this deserves it's own discussion, especially considering that I...
