I have the three Giants of Jazz releases, 1935-1939 Make Believe Ballroom [Giants of Jazz #53274, 1997], 1939-1940 Cherokee [Giants of Jazz #53277, 1996], and 1940-1945 Skyliner [Giants of Jazz #53280, 1996], quite cheap, and with "The Right Idea", "Cherokee", and "The Gal ...

Charlie Barnet is in my top 10...He was a big fan (and good friend) of Duke Ellington and you heard this a lot in his music...which is a real good thing... This is what I'd recommend: Anything on the Giants of Jazz label, They put out three CD's spanning from 35-45 I think... If anyone has Barnet 19...

I read recently that Louis Armstrong had a huge influence on Don Redman when Armstrong joined the Fletcher Henderson band. Louis basically thought the band how to swing, and in this Redman learned how to start to arrange to what started to become the basis of Big Band Swing. Brian :D Yup, I was als...

It's not my favorite song, but it's my favorite version of a song. I've always rather liked "Comes Love," but none seemed just right for dancers.. Larry Clinton's "Comes Love" (on this album, for example ). (Male vocal.) As my friend Patrick said, it's got a Benny Goodman "...

I went ahead and bought an AudioAdvantage because it was so cheap but it didn't work as good as having a single soundcard with multiple outputs, especially with Traktor DJ Studio. I did try ASIOx but I don't think it's quite as reliable... so I'm looking for a decent external soundcard for a laptop...

You could also use a program (like JHymn and there are others) to take the protection off the file and then convert the unprotected aac to mp3, if you do make sure you over compensate with a higher than usual bitrate (I use 192KPS VBR using Itunes), this approach is a hell of a lot easier than burni...

This sounds awesome, I just bought one off of Buy.com for $26.70, price includes S&H...I'm gonna compare it to my Sound Blaster MP3 which is a lot bigger and bulkier...I'm thinking it's gonna be better though because Turtle Beach is known to be a pretty good company...

It's weird you mentioned this...I saw this with a friend like 2 weeks ago, we were psyched we thought it was going to be a documentary on Artie Shaw (ala Benny Goodman Kingdom Of Swing, which f**king rocks by the way) but instead it turned out to be soundies and Snader Transcriptions all of which ha...

If you guys are looking for Hi-Fi Big Band Swing probably some of the best stuff to get is all of those Capitol recordings of the 50's and 60's when they hired the Casa Loma Orchestra to do all those covers that ended up on the Time Life Series...My fave though is a comp also called "Oscillatin...

I think I may get this, I have some pretty tight stuff from both Ray Noble and Bert Ambrose...the only good version of "Powerhouse" I could find was a Bert Ambrose arrangement...I heard Ted Heath is pretty good too...

I recommend the Vol. 2 JSP Cab box set , great price, label, Ted Kendall the audio restorationist learned under John R.T. Davies so it sounds great...You may also be surprised on how many instrumentals are on the box set as well...My faves off of it are Manhattan Jam, Queen Isabelle, A Minor Breakdo...
