I've got a few that I collected for that purpose too, but gypsy Mario 2 song is the best of the bunch. I did play a Donkey Kong Jungle song one time, though that was late at night and people were just goofing around by then. Actually, we did a whole video game theme night once. It wasn't video game ...

Is it the version by Adrian Holovaty?

The other best WTF moment I've had was not at a swing event, but a salsa/tango one. I played a tango version of Smells Like Teen Spirit

My home crowd is pretty good for dancing to just about anything. Classic rock, neo swing, rockabilly, top40 with a danceable beat or sometimes not; it's all fair game. I typically stick to "standard" fare, but later in the night is usually when the more eclectic music pops up. I actually p...

I use ground loop isolators all the time. They can usually be found for <$20 at a local electronics shop.

This makes me want to start a thread with some outrageously specific request and see what albums people can find: "I need songs about dolphins and porpoises". Best I could do for ya... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-L5F0whATrA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEtwsTfBzLc http://www.youtube...

I've tried a couple of those super cheap usb cards before and they sometimes have terrible noise problems. Excuse me if this is an obvious thing, but: have you tried it cancelling the "earth socket" (don't know the english word). I mean connecting the laptop to the AC with an only two pin...

I think everyone who feels they have to have all 100+GBs of their music collection with them at all times would be surprised how "little" music you actually would truly play at a dance (and how much of your 100+GBs is actually duplicates of the exact same recording.) My entire music libra...

I generally can't tell from PA speakers in a dance setting. Room acoustics and general noise murk it all up. I find 128 is fine there barring some really ugly encoding. I generally care more about the quality of the speakers than the quality of the mp3. On my home setup I have difficulty discerning ...

I've tried a couple of those super cheap usb cards before and they sometimes have terrible noise problems. I'd use them for cueing, and run the laptop output to speakers.
