This is extremely close to a version of Rock Hill Special that I have. You can search for it on iTunes, there's a version there. It's on Lionel Hampton: The Classic Years.

I don't have it in front of me right now but this is my favorite: M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I. I previously only had the version by Ella. But both are fantastic, so now I have options! I played some others last night. Here's my playlist: http://www.tcswing.com/Late%20Night%20Swing/070524LNS.htm

Kay Starr

This CD's got me excited. It's a 3 CD box set. http://www.ccmusic.com/cvrs/big/SMG900462.jpg http://www.ccmusic.com/item.cfm?itemid=SMG900462 I really like her voice and her big band stuff is top notch! There are alot of ballads and even some rockabilly and country. But it's definitely worth buying ...

I think it's fun and it fills the floor when I play it. Funny thing is, the quick ending. I get people lookin' up at me like I tripped over the power cord and unplugged it.

Of course, as soon as I post this, I see Julius' smiley.

But there are people out there who would say just that, so my rant is valid but misplaced on this forum.

Re: Campus Five in the studio

Bei Bist Du Schoen - although we generally wouldn't such a played song One O'Clock Jump - another obvious chesnut that we'd otherwise avoid. I It Don't Mean a Thing - again, another chesnut we would generally avoid, Sellouts! :D I'm a little late to the party on this discussion. I hope Julius is ju...

Steve Clarke & The Working Stiffs

This is a fun CD with a wide range of styles. It's a great band from Minneapolis. Thought I would give them a plug. Here's a review and more info:

Hey Jesse, Fine work with the show. I had a back log of your shows and we listened to them all the way up to Winnipeg. It was the shortest trip up there yet thanks to your show! One other Gospel one I like is "Keep on Trustin'" by Marlena Shaw. Also, for a good groove try "Groove Merc...

Casey MacGill - Jump

I open my weekly dance with the song Late Night Swing . Yesterday, I had a dancer come up to me and ask where they could get it. I referred him to Casey's website and Amazon. He said, "Yeah, I checked both and Casey's not making anymore and it's $75 or more on Amazon." Wow! I verified this...

From Minnesota: My favorite entertaining band is a new one called Steve Clarke & The Working Stiffs. They do a mix of Jazz and Jump Blues. They are about a year old and keep getting better. They just added a chick singer, Maya Marshall, who is on her way to knocking the socks off lots of dancers...

The only country song I EVER play is a funny Christmas tune that you can dance to:

"Please Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas" by a local band here in MN called Trailer Trash.

'Cuz ya gotta have some fun in life. ;-)

I started DJing out of necessity. We started our Thursday night DJ dance because we had Jesse Miner living in our midst. We had him spin Late Night Swing from October 99 to Feb 2000. That's when he took off for San Fran. I had a lot of discs, so I bought some equipment and have been spinnin' ever si...
