Hmm, I might just do that... don't think I'll be able to tackle the DR line though. I would probably start with the OmniTop 15 or maybe a Wedgehorn 10. I'd build the Omni10 (or 10.5) instead of an OT15. The O10 will be a little more expensive (two 10's instead of one 15) but has an advantage in low...

Has anyone ever tried building their own speakers? Go here instead: http://billfitzmaurice.com/ I've built a full PA system using plans from that site. The sound is awesome, and the builder community is equally as awesome. Edit: Here are some images that show what DIY speakers can look like... This...

Check out PCDJ Blue, or AtoMixmp3. Both are reasonable programs for DJing. Both are under $100 at retail. If you have a computer now, download the 30 day trial version and try it out. Read the manual, and practice DJing with it. If you don't like it, nothing lost but time - you can always fall back ...

Re: Overplayed songs
Or not? What is the devil's advocate to this assertion? When is an over-played tune a bad tune? Anyone have an example. The internet has made it really easy to find out about new songs, and to purchase those songs. As a result, hot songs are available everywhere. In the westie community many new of...

With a bit more fiddling, I think I could improve the result - the processed version is a little overcooked, so has a little too much of that muffled quality, but withstood a trial by fire last night on the blues floor, so I must have got something right. Original Version (sample) DeNoised Version ...

Re: Ripping MP3s of vintage music in mono
Does anyone know of a reason why I should NOT rip an MP3 of a vintage (mono) recording in mono? Does anyone anyone do so as a matter of course? There is no reason that vintage music can not be recorded in mono. There is the risk of laziness when ripping modern music - you might end up with mono ver...

Another of my laptops has an optical drive, but I remove it to put in a second battery. So, I trade an optical drive for 6 additional hours of battery life. I didn't even know they made such things. Great, more toys to spend money on. Not that I need to spend the money, but hey, it's an excuse to b...

I find that laptop DJs are less accomodating of requests. They're stuck with what they have. They can't accomodate CDs, and it's often too hard to do equipment swaps. Your laptop doesn't have an optical CD drive? (Oh my God, I just said the same thing as Reuben!) One of my laptops does not have an ...

Alright, between the explanation, the link, this speaker size discussion , I now sort of understand what you're talking about. At least the science behind it. Perhaps I need to go experiment in the under-utilized anechoic chamber across campus. Read L Ron Hoover's comments...ignore the rest. --Stan...
