Cunnilingus is funky, but the word don't swing.

I've been trying for five days now to understand what this weekend was all about, and to put in words the personal impact - and hopefully the "springboard" (to steal Elliott's term :) ) - to what will be even greater things to come. There's a quote from Ralph Ellison - author of Invisible ...

One more thing... He constantly wants to move the music forward. He is probably the biggest reason the current Basie Ghost band is still composing new stuff. When he took over the ghost band, Frank was still trying to infuse new music into the 'Ghost' band genre. I don't disagree with this comment, ...

Frank Foster isn't an arranger or composer for dancers....He came up in the 50s era of Basie. More of my thoughts later when I fully recover; I just had to quickly respond to this. Jerry, I have to respectfully disagree with this comment. Off the top of my head I can immediately think of four Basie...

In one week, I spent four hours at Albert Murray's home listening to Basie records, had a three hour dinner with Frank Foster, and spoke with Basie's son Aaron, Clark Terry, Benny Powell, Junior Mance, George Wein, and Nat Hentoff.

I can die now.

See you all soon!!!

Just like the Great Day in Lindy photo before it and the ball itself after it, the panel discussion Remembering Basie i...

So it's looking like this will have more SwingDJs members than any other event, no? Kinda makes sense given all the special stuff (beyond just swing dancing) going on that appeals specifically to us geeks: Basie Alumni, "A Great Day in Lindy", a couple discussion panels, Harlem Renaissance...

It's great that so many DJs are coming, because I know you guys won't want to miss our latest announcement! I already thought the Basie Centennial Ball is going to be the most special dance that our generation of dancers will be able to attend, simply for the fact that we have so many musicians who ...

I suggest everyone start at Jazz Record Center, 236 W 26th St, #804 (www.jazzrecordcenter.com) at, say, 12 or 1, and the...
