Pretty much any bop version of Cherokee is going to be blazing. There is a 410 bpm version on Karrin Allyson's "Collage" CD. Swing versions, I dunno.

He said he loved dancing to it but wished it were faster. 410 might be a little much though.

A friend of mine wanted a fast version of cherokee. Anybody know if there is one?

The djs here are very limited in their music selection. They usually have about 20-50 cds and about half of them are neo. I don't think they have enough of one artist to do a half an hour :D . We might be doing a dj battle sometime soon and I had a few questions. We probably will only have 2 djs battle (because we have very few djs), I was thinking maybe giving each of them a 30-45 minute set. How do you determine who won? Thoughts?

Speaking of Sidney Bechet, I only have one or two of his albums but would like to get into some more. Does anybody have any favorites of his that are a must have?

That is hilarious. I must say I am bummed out that djs are moving away from vinyl. There's some awesome stuff you can do with vinyl that you can't with a cd player (although even that is changing). Plus it makes collecting a little more challenging than just downloading a song.

Our scene is kind of holding right now but most of us feel it's at a breaking point. Either it's going to expand or just fizzle out. A bunch of us started around the same time and stuck around a while but now most of them don't come out that often and we don't really have a new generation to fill it...

Off topic and all but did you see the documentary "Scratch"? They have a piece on dj shadow crate digging and it's crazy. The basement is unbelievable.

I like dancing to violin occasionally. It's good to change things up occasionally. Don't really have any favorites though.

Does anybody know of a good pc program to edit music with? Something where I can change the pitch, cut and paste songs, etc.
