Well thanks for keeping an open mind. This certainly is not a "vocal" record. I look at is as a "Band" record with vocals thrown in. The vocals just add more flava an interest. We have 3 good vocalists in the band, which I think is a unique situation that I wanted to exploit.

Because people like the vocal numbers.... it's impossible to please everyone you know. BUT I can tell you that many of vocals have just one chorus of singing and the rest is the band jamming away. You know there will be plenty of hot solos!

I know, and I agree with you on all that. I was just trying to kid you there guy! I understand that you are going for a certain sound, and that you want things to be done in very strict terms. That's fine and your perogative, and also very instructive for teaching people, including other musicians, ...

If you are playing solos, it would sound a lot different. You can hear 4 to the bar banjo playing in a lot of early recordings by famous swing b...

JOnathan-

I know it was a bit later than when we are talking about here as far as style.... but what is your opinion on Charlie Christian? Didn't he play hollow body electric? Was his instrument considered an Arch top??

An interesting semantic point- great players can transcend crappy/ wrong instruments. However, almost always, great players who have knowledge/ feel/ talent for a particular style will absolutely make sure they have the right equipment because they know it will make them sound as good/ authentic as ...
