BTW, any CD shopping spree next week at Lindy Gras with fellow DJs? I'll be DJing the Sunday Lindy in the park and will not miss on the opportunity to get some CDs while in NO.

Never been to Melbourne myself (would love to!). However, I remember chatting with Bill Borgida and he telling me that this is perhaps the largest scene he has ever been to. My buddy Izzy from South Florida also met the two big promoters there at the SONH camp this year and was impressed by their pr...

Being dancing in South Florida for almost 6 years I've been through many changes in attendance. All the time we stop promoting attendance goes down. We have big plans to increase attendance at our dances and I think 2004 will be our finest hour. I love dancing and DJing, but I would not leave my tow...

I talked to Shorty Dave this weekend and I got some band member out of him. We are talking about Jazz Legends here. I'll be there. I trust Shorty Dave.

So this older gentleman, a regular at our dances comes to me and asks me if I can play "Barnyard Boogie" by Louis Jordan. He told me that he had a dream that he danced this song with one of our good and beautifull follows. He said that this day he will work out the guts to ask her to dance...

22 by Basie. I use all of them. I also have about 18 Ella CDs, even though I burned them down to about 9. Lots of Duke but with many reapeting songs. I need to start burning them down to fit in one CD case.

You never have enough Basie, Duke and Ella right?

Thanks for the link Tina. I'll cancel my subscription this week. Too bad I did not have a change to go on a downloading binge.

Emusic, what happened

I've subscribed to Emusic for about 4 months now. I have not downloaded any music for about 1 month and this week I went at it again. After I downloaded 5 albums I got a message saying that I reached my monthly limit. When did they change their terms? I used to have unlimited downloads for the $10.0...

Yeah, I know the Airport over there is the Louis Armstrong Int'l Airport. But the fact that they play all Satchmo's songs is still very cool! Talking about Preservation Hall. I was sitting by an oldtimer local over there during a break and told him that I was about to request some Duke song. He look...

I don't have many rules. However here are some that I try to observe: 1) When playing home gigs I always have a drink by me. It can get very lonely at the DJ booth ;) 2) Lots of Duke, lots of Basie. 3) Lately I like to alternate between a male vocal and a female vocal. 4) When I DJ after the class I...

I usually play Hip Soul by Shirley Scott which is over 6 minutes long. I also disable the single play feature on the CD player and let two good 4 minutes songs play back to back from a compilation CD. I might need to do this more than once since I like to support the bar ;)
