"Aw man, meeting all the way down on 26th St. at noon? I'm staying uptown 'round Harlem way and plan on being up until daybreak on Saturday night/Sunday morning. "

I am game to meet all fellow DJs on Sunday around noon for some CD shopping and perhaps lunch. We shall meet at Jazz Record Center as suggested by Shorty Dave. Let's start a roll call. Who is in?

Billy May

Anybody here into Billy May? He has some great tunes at Oscillatin' Rhythm but other than that I've got nothing on him.

So what do you recomend?

Dave, Izzy and I will be there and we might bring Sugar Sullivan along. For those who don't know her: Sugar won the Harverst Moon Ball in the early 50's. She can be seem at the "Spirit Moves" dancing Blues and Lindy. She was the last partner of Al Minns. She is still kicking ass, dancing a...

Burning Down your CD collection

So I will have to start the much needed burned down of my CD collection. I am carrying way too many CDs into gigs, most of them originals and I cannot afford to have them stolen or lost. So my question to you is: What do you do to burn your collection down? Do you rip all your tracks into MP3 and th...

Was it over Duke's Blanton-Webster CD? If so, the judge will let him walk. That was in self defense of some mighty fine Jazz!

This is both sad and weird. Yesterday morning I took out the Proper Box set to hear it in my car.

RIP Illinois. Another great one gone. Not many left.

What to purchase on Past Perfect Records

Can you guys please post some good CDs available from Past Perfect Records. Yakov posted a website to get them at $5.00 and I am planning to grab a few.

Yeah, Roy's next. I've listen to the show last weekend in Atlanta. Really good stuff. I've already asked him for a copy of the show  That brings me to a different topic. Could we have all the radio shows available for download at this or some other site? There are probably 1000 legal issues bu...

Basie After Death

Couple of questions on Basie:

1) What is his last CD release while alive?

2) After his death, what are the CDs out there recorded by his band ?

I had better luck at Magic Bus. Lots of used CDs and great variety. I also scored some good new albums at Tower Records. Didn't purchase anything from LA Music Factory. By the time I got there I had already blown over $100.00 in CDs
