One note that hasn't been discussed here is that you shouldn't skimp on the sampling rate of the MP3, which is different than what the discussion has been focusing on - bitrate. The native CD sampling rate is 44.1 kHz, or 44,100 times per second. Divide that by 1/2 to get the approximate maximum fre...

he's got to do the grunt work of listening to lots of music and responding with his body to it. it's unnatural for most people* these days to exhibit any sort of reaction to music other than singing along in the car. [snip] *uh, most non-ethnic people anyway. by which i mean whitey. and his asian b...

10 Songs to Introduce Someone to Lindy

So, if you were given the challenge of introducing something to lindy hop that had no prior knowledge of the dance and the music, what ten songs would you pick to intoduce them to lindy as it is today? Here's my quick list: * Django Reinhardt - Honeysuckle Rose (Quintette du Hot Club de France: 25 C...

You don't need training to dance fast. You just have to want to dance. If you don't believe me, put on some RCR or BBVD one night and watch the kids go nuts. They don't need lindy training to dance to it any more than I need classes in Hip Hop to dance to Snoop Dogg. OMG. Now I have this huge urge ...

Just to give you another perspective, it's more than just that kind of stuff. I lost half a lung to a birth defect and throughout my life I have had a difficult time keeping up with fast paced things. I always find myself winded at the end of a fast song and have to sit out the next couple ... I do...

or maybe its because the majority of lindy hoppers are white? i know that sounds WAY out there and totally racist, but historically, in NYC during the swing era the white lindy hoppers, by and large, preferred the slower tempos. Which is precisely why the Savoy dancers would win the Harvest Moon Ye...

Do any of us actually believe that with a little practice anyone (with 2 functioning legs) -even me- couldn't dance faster? Some people don't want to. People have differing opinions about music too, don't they? I think the question is not "do they want to?" but "WHY do they not want ...

Thanks for the info. I got a reply from Jennie today. If anyone else is interested in directly purchasing CDs from Jennie, here's the info: Hello Martin I regurlarly send cds all over the world. Our system is old fashioned: send cash money, 20 dollars for each copy, to Jennie Löbel Mörtvikskroken 13...

Jennie Lobel is actually an artist I've been meaning to get some CDs of ... these posts actually got me off my butt to go to her site, but lo and behold they don't sell their CDs via the web or phone or email. Besides seeing them in person, does anyone know how to purchase copies of their albums?

This is lazy to ask this here instead of just looking myself, but does Live365 have the ability to listen to past shows or time shift in anyway. I was thinking maybe that would be one of their subscriber services? I was thinking the exact same thing. I'd love to get my hands on some of those old sh...

I don't know about Media Player, but the free player WinAMP does allow you to select which output you use. Just go to Preferences (CTRL + P), Plug-ins > Output. Select which sound output you use and hit Configure. The first tab that comes up should be the Device tab. Choose the sound card you want a...

Question for all you digital DJs: How do you keep from getting lazy? recently we've had some DJs switch to the lap top and one in particular just does a play list before he gets there sets up his computer and lets it go. Checks every once in a while but not much else. I find this extreamly annoying...

Genre\Artist\Artist - Track Title - Album Title.mp3

Of course, I do all my browsing in iTunes, so it really doesn't matter since I just use it to search the ID3 tags for whatever I'm looking for.
