This happened to me last night. I wanted to play "You Can't Escape From Me" by Erskine Hawkins and scrolled one track too far and ended up playing "Rehearsal In Love" which is a very slow ballad. Plenty of people danced to it so I guess it went off ok. I always get a kick out of ...

The Titan Hot 7 will be playing in Seaside OR at the Oregon Dixieland Jubilee. www.jazzseaside.com. If anyone has heard any of the other bands playing at this event I'd be interested to hear your feedback. The TH7 alone is enough for me to make the drive as I have been wanting to check them out for ...

So I'm dj'ing a dance tomorrow night (along with Brenda) and I have to have one or two Watlz and Tango songs handy. I don't want to buy anything just for this so I'm hoping I have something suitable in my existing collection which constists mainly of vintage swing material (lot of early Basie, Goodm...

thank you

Tiger Rag

Got a favorite version? Let's hear it. I'm bored.

Currently my favorite is Ellington's 5:46 version from this album:

I have this and can't really say anything bad about it as far as sound quality and I remember the liner notes being decent.

On a side note - I love the version of King Porter Stomp on this album.

Another good one is "Good Morning Blues" on the Early Basie Decca album (Jimmy Rushing singing) - I think you have that too right? It's got some good Christmas lyrics, but Travis played it in mid-summer and it was still good to bump and grind to. Damn I love that song. "Blues In Thir...

Couple of songs I'm trying to find - both played at ULHS. The first is a very up-tempo song that was played a few times during the comp's (can't remember which ones of the top of my head). It was also played during the lindy battle. It has a brief piano intro that reminds me of the intro to Bill Ell...

I have two box sets (and I think a few single discs) from this label - Artie Shaw: King of the Clarinet, and Big Band Jazz-The Jubilee Sessions.
Very pleased with both sets.
