http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/drc600/c693/c693974yu0o.jpg Terrible recording quality / remastering job. On a few of the tracks it actually sounds like the record is intentionally slowed down temporarily and then allowed to speed back up -- messing with the pitch. I think there are better ...

jerry you rock. I agree with your notion that a lot of it has to do with the recording, and not just hi-fi versus lo-fi -- just the balancing. A good sound guy for a live band can make all the difference if they're mic'd. One time here in DC, the high hat was given way too much volume and really bec...

With a Lindy/Blues division of rooms, I think you can play some blues in the main room, if the situation calls for it. And I agree put good dj's in both. But if i'm not liking what I'm hearing in one room, and liking what I'm hearing in another... guess which room I'm going to hang out in all night.

Re: djing the blues...our job
Whoever's djing the main room and/or the blues room has a lot to do with that.mousethief wrote:My main question is why do people attend a swing dance to hang out in the Blues room all night?

don't play much of him, but in the right setting: Opportunity Please Knock [Then and Now] (long intro) Summer in the City [Mr. Oscar Brown Goes to Washington] (blues) .. and I think there might be a couple off of the double album Tells It Like It Is!/In a New Mood. But, the first half is just weird.

There are a few yea, where I skip the intro, or fade it in just right. And there are a few intros that I just avoid, but sometimes, for whatever reason, I feel the need to grab the attention of dancers with some sort of intro. even if a little extended. Perhaps it's a radio guy talking about the upc...

I agree, if you are going to play it, you might as well play it all. The dancers who love the song know it pretty well. I agree with Nate Dogg. Leave [Gene Harris's Summertime] alone! Sure, there are extremely few spots where this song would work, but it has its place. Editing out those solos is ju...
