Re: How to be a better Swing DJ
Fundamentals will always be there match the beat perfectly first.. :D Honestly having a hard time telling whether you're clueless (entirely wrong kind of DJ'ing), or blatant spam. Reported just in case, but on the off chance you're the former: I suggest reading a bit of the forum and understanding ...

Just a balboa playlist from last night
I'm too lazy to fix the formatting, but just about not lazy enough to post this. I DJ'ed the balboa room at our local venue on Wed, and this is what I played. Gentle (or, you know, anything short of JiveJunction) critique welcome--I haven't DJ'ed that much for an entire room of balboa dancers before...

Re: C.o.D cash on delivery...i think
It is indeed Skeets Tolbert, and the track is indeed called "C.O.D.", recorded in 1942. The lyric is actually "collect on delivery".
I have it on the 1940-1942 Skeets Tolbert Chrono Classics release.

Re: "Yeahman" compilations?
Those are compilations Rob and Diane van Haaren used for teaching purposes. There are, to my knowledge, four discs floating around out there. Track name, bpm, artist name. Sorry about the ugly formatting--iTunes copy & paste does nasty things. This should get you the bits you miss, at least. Als...

Pretty sure that's Teresa Brewer with Tommy Dorsey.
It's not easy to find, I'm afraid. This is the best I could do for you online:

If she says "yes, there is", will you share with us? I want to purchase a copy, too. I have "Live as You Like", but not the CD with that version of "Drop Me Off..."

Re: Caar Lemar - New Swinging music artist
Piece of advice #1: scantily clad women in a video aren't a good substitute for music that doesn't capture the attention of the listener. It just makes the listener less likely to take your music seriously. (If you wonder why anyone would consider this a problem, let me ask you this: why aren't thes...

Thanks, Surreal--some good suggestions in there.
I never thought of "Solid as a Rock" as gospel, but I kinda see where you're coming from.

I can't help you with the artist, but that's the standard "Memories". See here in wikipedia, for instance:

Re: Gospel Lindy?
I dug this old thread from the archive not simply out of boredom, but because I have slight hope that one of the three or four other people still on this forum will have some new gospel/spiritual/... favourites. So, whaddaya say? The local venue where I tend to DJ moved into a church recently, and t...

Re: R.I.P. Natalie Cole
her great version of "Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball?" from Baseball: A Film By Ken Burns . Whaaaaaaat?! I never realized she was on the soundtrack for that. I play the Buddy Johnson one semi-frequently, and have played the Count Basie recording once or twice, too. Must! Get! T...

Re: R.I.P. Natalie Cole
Let's make this a happy thread. What Natalie Cole recordings have you played at dances? I've played "Route 66" and "Straighten Up and Fly Right" from "Unforgettable with Love". They used to be quite popular in the SF Bay Area (during the halcyon days of the Dog House an...

Re: Very distinct hook
Good job! That sounds awfully close. Is the track edited, or do you think this is an alternate from a live gig...? It doesn't *quite* match the album track, does it? (Though with that horrendous recording it's bloody hard to tell.) Also, the Spotify link doesn't work for me (free account, in the USA...
