how about any tune with earl hines' piano solos in them (or almost any song with some kind of a stride-ish piano solo for that matter)...

of course, that's not really a slow build over the whole song, but rather a pick up in speed over a chorus or so

Re: song ID [two more songs]

Song #2 (the impossible one) On tuesday of the 4th week (still about this year's Herrang) there was a fantastic jam in the library that lasted for about 2 hours. Todd was DJing. Most of the songs didn't have any lyrics (typical for fast tempos) but some did. The song I'm talking about also did have...

Any recommedations for a freeware manual BPM counter for Mac OS that lets you tap every 2 bars or something like that? I whipped up the following Quick-and-Dirty shell script that lets me hit 'Enter' at the end of every 8-bar Phrase (32 beats, four sets of eight, whatever...) [...] Thanks for the s...

Any recommedations for a freeware manual BPM counter for Mac OS that lets you tap every 2 bars or something like that? I've found automatic BPM counters, but don't really trust them, I need to be more in control :) I've also found manual BPM counters, but those I've tried demand that you tap every b...

I faced the same issue as having just bought a new MacBook. I used a Echo Indigo on my PC and was very happy with that. On that basis I went for the Echo AudioFire2 which uses FireWire interface. So far fairly happy (though a bit bigger than the PMCIA card) with the sound. Only complaint is that it...

Actually, I have gone back to using the Turtle Beach usb card. It's small, and is absolutely foolproof. I had some interference issues with the Xmod so it is in my laptop bag but I rarely take it out. Another dj here in Cleveland uses the Xmod exclusively and is very satisfied with it (he uses a pc...

[...] I use an iMac PPC G5 and I'm not using any of the 3 external USB sound cards I bought at the moment. In fact, I haven't used any of them since I upgraded to OS X from 10.3 to 10.4 - I haven't used my speakers much and have chucked all the sound cards into a pile for now. [...] Haydn, are you ...

To me, there seems to be three basic sound quality disussions on this board. 1. SOUND QUALITY COMPARISON BETWEEN DIFFERENT ERAS. When searching this forum for information on certain artists or tracks, for me it's not that important to get information about sound quality of a 1934 track compared to a...

Re: Bob Crosby CD recommendations?

I'm getting to like quite a few Bob Crosby tracks, but most of the recordings are poor quality :(. Does anyone have any recommendations for CDs with decent sound quality? Great band, wish I could help you. I recall that the GRP CD reissue had good sound quality. [...] I have "A Proper Introduc...
