Rumor control: ALHC

Hi, I keep getting requests about DJing at ALHC, so I just want to point out that I am not the DJ coordinator this year. I'm sorry about this misunderstanding, it is basically my fault for not being clearer about things with Paulette sooner. Having said that, Paulette and I did not have any kind of ...

Central Ave Breakdown was my guess after listening to it last night. Anyone actually have the All-Stars album to confirm? That was my first thought, but I listened to it and the ending is completely different. Good news: CA Breakdown is a hot tune that I have never played and I will now (might edit...

Thanks, I should have said that I have lots of "fast lindy" music in the 180-240 zone. As a generalisation , relatively few people are going to Lindy Hop at 260+, so I was looking for stuff that would be more Bal feeling. At slower tempos I think one could just follow the rule of just play...

Why not ask Manu?

Any possibility it's Slim & Slam? Vibes, unison bass/scatting...

Major Holly does the "Bass and vocals" thing too, but I don't know him well at all...

Anyway, it's a hot track!

I don't particularly like Bal and really don't like collegate Shag, but of course I try to be accomadating. Having said that, I think I have a sense of the Bal pulse, but I could be way wrong. here is my Bal/Shag mix, if anyone would like to suggest what I should cut from the mix, i'd appreaciate th...

Well put. I think what got me to react is that all the songs mentioned above (that I own and did a tempo check on) go from the 120ish zone to the 240ish zone or higher. Just curious: how many people have DJed a Novice, Advanced or Champion J&J or strictly and can tell us what the tempos were? At...

Just a suggestion/not a fact: I think it's nicer to start fast and slow down rather than to start slow and speed up. While either situation can create laughter and a sense of fun, I know that a lot of people who might come out on the floor for a blues dance or a slow Lindy are going to be disappoin...

Haha. I recognised the part about Louis and stopped reading it. The part about BG makes it funnier.
