Vaughan never sang a song like she lived the lyrics. That's my judgment of the records that I own by her (which aren't many). Fitzgerald, Holiday, you can close your eyes and imagine that they wrote the songs and are singing them spontaneously for you at that very moment. Holy shit! That's perfect!...

Can anyone suggest a good but cheap editing software? Chris I haven't liked any of the freeware I've downloaded except for the Nero editor. You can use it free (and permanently save what you edit) for something like 2 weeks. It did everything I wanted it to except edit mp3-pro tracks (the pay versi...

OK, this is funny; my Dad added some info to the above list based on his personal experience. This is typical of Dear Old Dad, as he is a story teller if nothing else (and he really is many other things as well...): (1) Kunst Bauer is an exact German translation of Art Farmer's name; he was under c...

I wish my daddy had worked for a record label so i could put out my own compilation. Maybe you need your daddy's help, maybe you don't. As far as I know, David's dad hasn't ever worked for a record label. i wish there were more opportunities like this for people in the lindy hop community to add so...

"This little light of mine"
The best version I have ever heard by far is the one by a band called "The Steeles". Laurie (girlfriend) found it and downloaded it a few years ago and it is always a huge hit. Because it is so hard to find, and the album it's on is an aweful Christian-preachy thing, I have made a copy of ...

Re: Bootlegging Live Acts
Have you ever encountered a situation were you were given an unreleased recording by an artist as DJ material? Like I've said on the Top 25 thread, I just received a few gigs' worth of live stuff from Jonathan Stout, Josh Collazo, The Dream Team (much of which ended up on the Live at the Lindy Bing...

Dat Dere - Oscar ??? Not Oscar, Bobby Timmons. Great song. Oscar Brown, Jr. did it on Sin, Soul and Then Some. That is the version that go overplayed in my region. Yep, , thanks Nate. It's the best version in my mind. James Williams' version is good too. Bobby's is really nice, but since it's missi...
