6) No high-hat on the cymbals; tap the beat out on the ride cymbals. (We've had this debate before, but very few if any drummers know how to use a high hat for a swing rhythm; they end up creating a choppy, abrupt beat that interferes with the rhythm instead of accents it). Actually, I take it back...

5) Except for transitions, maintain a constant, walking bass line with no two-beat feel (emphasizing the 1 and the 3). I agree with your other points, but I think this is too limiting. No Lunceford? I think it takes away a lot of opportunity for interesting dynamics. Agreed... all your other points...

Indeed... I'm more likely to dance during my own DJ set if it's at a venue I regularly DJ at, or in a scene where I've established myself as a DJ. I am not likely to do it if I'm a visiting DJ for a number of reasons: The stigma it may or may not have in the visiting scene is unknown to me. I'm not ...

I'm not sure I agree with GenZombie about getting the feel of a room better by doing this though - for me, observation works better. #1 There is an amount of dancing a DJ can do that I believe helps, going overboard will obviously not work. #2 Watching the room is always first, putting yourself int...

I also once again defend the DJ who wants to Dance a tune while the laptop is going. Unless the DJ is completely irresponsible and dances every song, I don't see a problem with a DJ dancing while the next song is already queued up. Depending on the situation, I find being one of the dancers instead ...

Are other people noticing how slow the board is since the move? Any plans on addressing that if so?

Thankfully the problem is solved. I'll attach USB audio devices only to the right-hand bus in the future. Is it though? That seems like solving a toothache by chewing on the other side of your mouth. There is no excuse for a USB port on a high end laptop to not work anything but perfectly. I certai...
