One of the unsung geniuses of early Jazz - had two strikes against her to start with: female and black. Her life would make an amazing screenplay. Quite an accomplished dancer, trumpet player and singer - got her start in a group with her sisters Lavaida and Alvaida (!)(tutored by her mom who was a ...

Up here in Canada all venues pay SOCAN fees for the privilege of playing recorded music, so we are essentially covered. The legality of playing mp3s is another question altogether, I guess. What bothers me is that there is no way that any of the obscure artists I play (or even many of the not-so-obs...

I found one! Probably the last new copy in the G8. I found it at : http://www.venerablemusic.com/ . this guy is ultra-helpful, and stocks a lot of decent stuff. He runs his store out of his home in rural Georgia. It's nice to support the little guy. BTW, it is true that CLC Melodie Jazz Classics are...

I went to a buddy's place for a record hop last night. He said that because it is a French record label, they only have publishing rights whithin the EEC - and that shipping to the US is actually verboten.

Does anybody here know anything about copyright law to confirm this or not?

Having the damndest time finding Erskine Hawkins 1935- 1938 on The Chronological Classics series. My usual dealer hasn't had a shipment from them in 6 months.

Are they still around? I think I will have a panic attack if they ain't!

However,I think that unless he actually used the words " bunch of reactionary blabber", there is no reason to use the quotation code. You could have wrote:

"Charleston Charlie, that is a bunch of reactionary blabber"
Bingo.

The way you wrote it and posted it accrues that statement to me, which is b.s.

And since when is it considered reactionary to disagree with someone else's opinion?

a bunch of reactionary blabber Say what? I never used that term. Not even when drunk. Something VERY fishy is going on here. Where the hell did that come from?
