A funny (Western) Swing song on the subject of looking for something, although without necessarily finding it, is Pussy, Pussy, Pussy, first recorded by the Light Crust Doughboys in 1938. It's definitely a classic.

A Rhythm Rascal Cocktail - Zasu Records #7, the latest CD by the Reynolds Brothers is great for DJing. You probably won't get it delivered to Perth before the end of the exchange, but you'll definitely have other chances to use it.

The Chronological Classics are still available on Amazon USA. Maybe they were getting better sales on Amazon and decided to quit with eMusic. :?: It would have been nice if eMusic at least let us know in advance that the label were to be discontinued. They keep bragging that they are expanding the c...

No more Chronological Classics on eMusic USA?
The Chronological Classics don't seem any longer available on eMusic USA. :( Check out the link . There were about 470 albums for download. I downloaded my last CC tune on February 28th. I emailed eMusic customer service asking whether this is just a temporary problem or not, but I got a response th...

Swingin' Jimmie Rodgers
I am a big fan of Jimmie Rodgers (the "Father of Country Music") and I am looking for songs written by him that are good for Lindy and other Swing dances. Any suggestions are appreciated. This is what I have so far: Blue Yodel No. 9 (Standing on a Corner) - Recorded by Jimmie Rodgers and L...

[Answered] Multiple Songs From eMusic
I have recently downloaded the following two songs from eMusic, both credited to Jack Teagarden:
At the Darktown Strutter's Ball (disk #2, song #6)
Dinah (song #44)
I am wondering if someone can let me know the recording year and band name for each of the songs.
Many thanks!

To be fair, there is also a number of vintage recordings whose vocals I don't enjoy very much. BTW, I have two additions the list of bands I gave in my first post: Mora's Modern Rhythmists , now Dean Mora's Orchestra (Pre Swing Era dance music) Dave Stuckey and the Rhythm Gang (Western Swing) If had...

I've experimented with some Janet Klein , but I find her a bit annoying in large doses. Small group or girl + uke recreating 20s (and other period)'s novelty vocal stuff. She's American, but I'm not sure from where. She is from Los Angeles. :) I don't own any of her recordings, but I have been to s...

Your favorite contemporary vintage bands
What are your favorite contemporary vintage bands for Swing dancing? It would be great if you could indicate some good bands and their musical style, even better if they are on eMusic (but not necessary). I would like to expand my collection of contemporary (from 1980 to present) vintage (1920's - 1...

I picked some of the songs listed below for the preliminaries of a Collegiate Shag contest, after a discussion with Sailor Mike Mizgalski (two time NJC Shag Champion). The general guideline to pick a good Shag is to look for a bouncy feeling. Cheers, Lorenzo Steamboat Bill, Mora's Modern Rhythmists ...
