i have an archos 20 and it's a little clunky. i think sourceforge has a project to update the OS, but it's not that far along yet. the iPod is themack daddy but expensive. Creative Nomad has been updating it's products; they now offer bigger drives and playlist on the fly. http://www.nomadworld.com/...

Of course, just yesterday I was listening to a Jazz show on the radio, and the host played some "BeBop"... it was definitely swing era, but had that "boppish" feel in the solo sections. The tune itself was pretty much a swing tune. Strange. why strange. most of the major players...

i'm not sure if he made it to LA but Jack Kerouac's _On the Road_ is on my list. supposedly he talks about listening to Slim Gaillard.

How do you like the CD? I'm doubious of 70s Basie y'know... BTW, I have you DJing 12:30-2:00AM on friday and during the band breaks on saturday. Can't wait to see you in Philly! it's laserlight so it's cheap. the "things ain't what they used to be" is nice, thanks kyle, with lots of drive...
