in 2012 the Big 18 is easily found on one disc for $15 on Amazon prime: http://www.amazon.com/Legendary-Swing-Sessions-RECORDINGS-REMASTERED/dp/B002HMY7D0/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpi_1 Still no audible samples, though, anywhere on the internet. Anyone want to upload a 30 second clip of one of the tracks mayb...

R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders

I'm amazed that we don't have a thread for these cats yet. I googled and found exactly zero discussion of them on swingdjs.com to date. I think some of the vintage hounds on here would love these guys. It's a group that was founded by the cartoonist Robert Crumb , who is also a record collector and ...

Nine years later, I wonder what has changed / stayed the same since the last time we had this discussion. I'm DJing a dance in Miami that attracts a lot of beginners and I'm looking for swing music that sounds clear on the speakers and will reach out to people... I play plenty of "the real stuf...

Duck Trot is an interesting track. I found it here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GKJK7Y/ It is a much boppier Cab than I'm used to hearing. The album "That Old Black Magic" that it appears on doesn't seem to come with any kind of extended information available anywhere on the intern...

That's an instrumental! Only hardcore Ellington fans would get the joke, and we are looking to attract an audience not entirely comprised of Ellingtonians :-P

Songs about duckies

Hey folks. Getting back into the swing dj world after being out for years. Starting a new dance with my wife (which I didn't have last time I posted here!). We are calling it Ducky Swing. We want a theme song. I know about Rubber Ducky and Put Down The Ducky. They are both swinging songs. But I want...

i'm cringing looking at my last post on this thread from 6 years ago.

anyway it might be worth pointing out that Eminem's new song "We Made You" has a kind of swingish, shuffle beat. Too bad the lyrics are just really dumb and hard to listen to

Ahmad Jamal

it swings, don't know if any of it is danceable. i found this album in an extremely random way – through this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9nptjUs9FM

anyway look up "Ahmad's Blues" on your favorite music resource. Amazon MP3's got it

Christina Aguilera "Back To Basics"

I like the MTV song, "Ain't No Other Man", even though it's pretty repetitive... but i read that one of the two discs of the new album is all-acoustic, so perhaps something there is genuinely danceable. Or maybe something on the electronic half is good for the dancefloor. Verdict? This is ...
