Re: Overplayed songs
When I was starting out, particularly as the scene here was pretty much brand new, whenever I came across a reference to an 'overplayed' track that I didn't have or know, I would make it a priority to get hold of it, reasoning that to be overplayed, it had to have been worth playing in the first pl...

The main venue I DJ has two room, when I DJ the secondary (side) room and we need to have people go to the main room for a special function or something, I just announce it. That is a very rare case (if we have Halloween costume contest or something else along those line). Playing music that does no...

Pat Boone singing R and B classics? This was posted in the other thread, Before Paul Anka's Rock Swings, there was this chesnutt. This one came out during the late 90s. http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/drc800/c866/c86650lf4qn.jpg For the most part, in my view, the whole genre of swing covers...

Some of those songs are not really what I would call bad. Fire or Queen may not be certain DJs cup of tea, but no reason to get harsh, too many dancers like them for them to really be considered the worst. Maybe, they would fit a list of the cheesiest songs. I don't think anyone is surprised that t...

I am a member of the group. Most of the time, I am the token lindy oriented DJ. Different Lindy DJs have dropped in and out at different points in time. Jesse Miner was nominated for the Wetzel at least once (not sure who nominated him). I did not see him on the website, but I remember seeing posts ...

Venues and crowds are so different, if the dancers were digging his set, that is all that really matters. Keeping it groovy might be exactly what works for certain DJs and scenes at certain points in time. Focusing on classic swing probably works at other times and places. I could post playlists and...

The problem is lazy DJs period. I just think that computers make it easier for them to exist. Some don't even bother with a second station or any way to transition. As a result, dancers are often at the whim of the end of a track. And like I've said, a regular playlist is about the laziest thing an...

I think it has been said, you can buy a portable CD drive that plugs right into your laptop's USB drive, not that expensive, you can have your cake and eat it to. If you laptop does not have enough USB ports, you can buy a hub to fix the problem. If somebody actually believes that using carrying aro...
