I got a request a couple of months ago for Artie Shaw's The Glider: what made this stand out to me is that the girl asking for it couldn't have been more than a sophmore in highschool. I was dumbfounded that she even knew who Shaw was, let alone that song.

The only Miller CD you need is The Spirit is Willing . It focusses on the "jazz" side of his orchestra, which I tend to regard as a sweet band in the vein of Paul Whiteman. It's this emphasis on the sweet, novalty tunes (Partly due to the way his music is still marketed) that turns many pe...

LOL. Unless they're beat juggling, scratching sand using vinyl I don'r see how any DJ can be "putting on a show".

We coulde create a blog to do this Oh, yuck. Thanks for the initiative, but that's even less organized and more difficult to reference than this board. A blog is just a user interface to a database, which is pretty much what you're asking for. The key is having a solid Information Architecture that...

1. Look at the artists you like to play a lot, then pick a couple songs that you've never DJed by them befor and forceyourself to use them.

2. When I'm at home I put iTunes on random and let it go. Half the time I come across music I'd forgotten about and put it in a a list for the next time I DJ.
