YES! Vintage instruments have a very different sound from modern instruments. They have different bore sizes and bell sizes, they have different style mouthpieces, and they sound very different from what is made today. Plus the style of playing- drummers using more snare and less cymbals, brass play...

If you really want to hear some bad bad bad msuic, check out the recording "Basie and Bing". Unbelievably bad recordings of the Basie band with Bing Crosby playing things like: "Put Your Hand in the Hand" and "Little Green apples" Amazing!
