Now that I'm in the middle of my post, I thought of a way the hat trick could work. If you filled the hat with broad themes (food, animals, colors, trios, big band, vocals, instrumentals, etc...) and had the moderator choose from the hat, then each DJ would have to play three songs fitting that the...

I would call Joe Williams a blues crooner. He doesn't shout, he sings very smoothly, fully rooted in the age of microphones. There is no doubt that Joe Williams definitely used a smoother style on many recordings, one of his influences was Nat King Cole; however he did use the shouting style on man...

yeah, I love Kevin Mahogany's voice but he is more of a jazz singer than a blues shouter if that makes sense --- I bought one of his CDs on sale and there were only two or three songs that worked for dancing; even those have some interesting touches so I don't play them that often. Actually he does...

Anyone that is using Winamp for DJing should check out the DJ Helper plugin . It's awesome. Count and instantly add BPM into the 'comment' section of the MP3 tag, save cue points and a bazillion other helpful things. http://www.sploghm.com/misc/Helper25.gif Here's more info.
