You can get a bunch of different half-rack sized compressors for $50-$100. Check www.musiciansfriend.com and then check ebay.

Thanks Jesse.

I figured since it was freeware, it wouldn't be a bad idea.

As For the Charlie Christian Stuff, I much prefer the Columbia "Genius of the Electric Guitar" 4-disc, and the JSP "First Master of the Electric Guitar." The first is all studio stuff, plus alternates. The second is all airchecks and jam sessions.

Check out the 4-disc proper box, no alternates but everything you really need.

To be honest, don't waste your money. Just stick with the Columbia 2-disc "On the Air 1937-1938." It's got the best versions of the stuff from that period. Those 6-discs are redundant, and have a lot of useless material.

Weddings are the lowest form of work for bands or DJ's. You WILL get a million annoying requests for whatever it is that you're not playing. I have a 30's/40's small group swing band, so I get a 100 requests for "Fly Me to the Moon" or "Summer Wind" or other Sinatra, Dean Martin,...

The stuff on the 4th disc is a bit more rare. The first batch of live stuff is great, and so's the stuff from Cafe Uptown - although sans Lester Young. You can really hear Jo Jones hihats clearly on those. By the way the liner notes are pretty good too.

Illinois Jacquet is my guy. I've got 5 Ilinois Jacquet tunes in the Campus Five book, besides "Flying Home" and "Jammin' the Blues." I was happy to have found some of his solo work and to be keeping those tunes out there, I just didn't expect to have to be doing tributes to him a...
