If you aren't super picky, give a listen to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/With_Respect_to_Nat This is the only album (that I know of) where Oscar Peterson sings. Apparently he didn't do it very often because his voice sounds EXACTLY like Nat King Cole, and I am not exaggerating one bit. Good album.

The Widespread Depression Orchestra might have recorded during that period. Ah...nice. Of course, the only stuff on CD I already have and was recorded in '79 and '80. Did some more searching. It seems like a lot of jazz albums recorded in 1984/1985 were issued on vinyl and have not been reissued on...

Any thoughts?
I have it. I like it. It's simple and has two outs if your software requires that (e.g., Traktor).

Re: not quite

Well, I think I jumped the gun. It definitely has some similar parts, but no, it's not the song. Perhaps the Big Apple routine would fit to it though. Rob It's a good song though, and I can hear the similarities. But looking up the song online, it was recorded in 1945, so even if they were related,...

The "Birth of Swing" set is probably one of BG's best.

My favorite recording of "On the Sunny Side of the Street" for DJ'ing at a dance is from James Booker off the album "New Orleans Piano Wizard: Live!", recorded from his performance at the 1977 Boogie Woogie and Ragtime Piano Contest held in Zurich. So good!!! I'm going to ventur...

I think it's because they are using "hot" differently then we would. I suspect it is used as contrast to "sweet" bands.

Re: Music software for Mac OSX

Hi, I'm deejaying on a Macbook with OSX and can't find deejay software. I use iTunes, but it won't let me cue or crop songs. Can anybody recommend free or inexpensive deejay software for Mac OSX? Thank you. It's not free, but Traktor is available for the mac ( http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en...

Re: iTunes sync to laptop

How are you currently synching between desktop and laptop? Lipi's suggestion of using an external drive is probably the most commonly used method. But you could tag your files so that you can extract only the files you want to use for djing. And you could export the relevant playlists and import th...

Re: iTunes sync to laptop

Hi all, I just started DJing for our local scene in Hong Kong more seriously, and I'd like to start DJing from a laptop instead of my iPod so that I can review BPM, switch around music, etc. However, my music collection is way too big to fit on my laptop hard drive. Plus, I need to continue to use ...
