As for conversations while DJing, I do it all the time, I say exuse let me get the next song ready, I'll be back in a mintute. If you say it nicely and sincerly, I don't see where most people have a problem with that. I've rarely cause someone to be frustrated. But, I also tend to have a lot of talk...

You can have a name that tune where a DJ plays 5 songs. The DJ who writes down the most correct answers gets to DJ next or the dancer who gets the most correct gets to choose the next DJ.

A DJ who only plays songs over 200 BPM for over an hour. I like to dance to fast music but only 1 song every once in awhile. There was a DJ who played songs only off of this 8 CD compilation that was given to him, he played these same songs off these CD's for at least 5 years. Man did he become a bo...

Franz Jackson is still alive in Chicago, played with the Roy Eldrige Orchestra, and the Fats Waller big band at the Savoy between 1938 and 1943.

I have to admit I still like Indigo Swing even though a lot of there stuff is clearly boogie woogie and not neo swing. I also like RCR. But I dislike all the rest of the neo swing stuff. But I, like many others started swing dancing in the first place to neo swing in the neo swing hey day of 97 and ...

I hear, however, that almost all New Orleans musicians want to shoot themselves whenever someone asks for that song. I was in a bar hearing Dwayne Burns and he said "We take requests. We'll play anything for tips, except When the Saints Go Marching In." I nearly died laughing. I requested...

It would be nice if everybody adhered to a 4 eight count rule or something standardized. Do other scenes actually adhere to "rules" like that?
In Chicago they did for the most part, the only who didn't we're beginners.

Yes I meant birthday jams and jams when there are mulitple dancers dancing at once. In San Farncisco they are held with all birthday people and out of towners dancing in one jam. So you may have 10 or more coules at once. In smaller scenes you often see them with just one couple. I avoid them now in...

Playing 12 bar songs jam circles

I've come to the conclusion that playing 12 bar or 6-8 count format songs is bad for jam sessions. A good jam session song should have 4 8s.
